Tearstained - December 1995 Promo

Tearstained began as another solo-project of mine in December 1995. Basicly, at this time, I had just bought my Fostex 8-track reel-to-reel system. It would be far superior to the 4-track recorder I had been using for the ITSM demos. And I just had this idea of mixing the styles of Mercyful Fate, Bathory & Monumentum's demo'89. I wrote and recorded the one song on the promo "Tearstained Nightsky". I do everything myself. It was my first try at recording in my new 8 track studio (which I still use to this day - Mortuary Temple Studio). This is the original rough mix promo that I spread to mags and through the tapetrading circuit. This very recording is the same one on the debut CD, except that the CD version was re-mixed & re-mastered.

Also, in the beginning I did not take credit for Tearstained. I didn't want it to be just another "Mikael solo-project" since I had a few. So the original Bio for Tearstained had made-up names for 3 band-members listed (one of which was vaalkoth which I later adopted as my email name). Below is the original Tearstained Bio and logo.
